Is this home?
When you grow up in more than one place, the concept of "home" becomes rather fuzzy. It becomes sort of like a collection of things that are scattered around the globe. For me, "home" is jumping into the Adriatic Sea from a rock, it is the smell of Iowa grass in the spring, it is laying eyes on my family, whether it happens in Croatia, Germany, Italy, or the US...
Having become such a fragmented and fleeting concept, I have never really tried to establish a more cohesive home in any particular place. Everywhere I went through, I would dip into the surrounding culture deep enough to find enough things to keep me going for the time that I am there. But now, I am starting to feel a little different. I am finding enough nice things about Arizona that I'm considering staying here for a while. Maybe even making it a true home for myself.
I love the weather. I love the desert, I love the forests, and I love the Grand Canyon. The people around me are great. The Arts, Media and Engineering Program is starting to feel more like a family than a workplace, and the research is starting to be very interesting and rewarding. The art scene is just waiting to explode. And artVERGE is becoming something that I'd like to take very, very far. And let's not forget that Las Vegas is pretty close :-).
So maybe I stay here for a while, eh? I knew there was something special about Arizona as soon as I found out they don't do Daylight Savings Time here...

I can certainly relate to "home" being a "fragmented and fleeting concept", having lived for long periods of time in different countries through out my life. I can't be happier for you; it is truly wonderful how things are turning out for you (thanks in a great part, I think, to your willingness to take risk and make a fool of yourself (haha), your quirky sense of humor, your never ending thirst for all that is new, beautiful, exiting and tantalizing to the senses, your vast intelligence and vaied artistic talents (laying it on a little thick ha? hahaha), and your refusal to let things get you down). I believe, home for those of us who can be said to be nomads, really is in us,..... what we make of it where ever we land,....of course it helps if the surroundings are pleasing to us and the people are open or at least willing to entertain our (or your hahaha) crazy ideas and quirky or outright weird personality (this is a compliment by the way).
I'm very happy for you
love always

Hi brother, nice you found a home at last. I said something like it also few days ago but I didn`t really ment it. I belive the good thing about your home is that you can leave it any time you want to. Not like majority of us. Say hi to all, have a nice wintertime in Arizona...
Hier is by the way everything like it allways was. Europ is fallin appart and getting bigger. Croatia is also near, maybe 4-5 years. If they winn the Soccer World Championship maybe sooner. You can try to buy some tickets in USA. Köln is also one of the cities to be played in. We have enogh sleeping possibilities if you take som friends.
